Rafaela is a Portuguese artist based in Kelso, UK (previously Newcastle-upon-Tyne). She is a traditional and digital artist, but most of her work is done with graphite pencils and paper.​ She has always loved creating art and playing video games, so it felt natural to combine both and make a career out of it. Drawing her favourite video game characters became her favourite pastime during COVID-19 lockdown.

Rafaela's work has a realistic style. She likes to create pieces that look like a split moment in time; a memory. Whether this is her favourite moment in a game, a portion of a thought, or a part of someone else's happiness, Rafaela's breath-taking drawings allow for that moment to be felt over and over again.

Rafaela graduated from her BA in Animation and Games Art in 2026 from the University of Sunderland, and is now a freelance artist. She has worked on commissions for Transport North East (UK) and the University of Sunderland (UK), where both projects were in collaboration with CreoComms (Sunderland, UK).
